Placement Tags give you much greater control over where and when ads are shown within your application. 

1. Creating a Custom Placement Tag

There are 2 ways in which you can create a custom Placement Tags for your app:

SDK Generated Placement Tags

You can add Placement Tags to your application when integrating the Tapdaq SDK. These tags will then appear automatically on the Placement Tags page for your app on the Tapdaq dashboard. Details such as the supported ad units for each placement will be synced too.

Dashboard Generated Placement Tags

Alternatively, you can create Placement Tags for your app directly on the dashboard. These tags can be created on the main Placement Tags page for your app. The Placement Tags you create on the dashboard will then need to be added into your SDK integration.

Note: You can not assign a banner ad to a custom Placement Tag.

2. Placement Tag Management

By clicking on a Placement Tag you will be taken to a detailed overview page for that specific Placement Tag.

On this page, you are able to view additional information, such as the ad units supported by the Placement Tag, and all mediated ads/promotions which are currently serving ads to this specific placement.

You also have the ability to stop showing ads within a placement, and this can be controlled using the Status toggle.

Finally, you can archive placement tags which you no longer need on the dashboard, providing they are not targeted by any ad sources.

3. Promotions With No Placement Tags

You can still control promotions which aren't assigned to a specific placement. For example, at any point where you implement [[Tapdaq sharedSession] showInterstitial] without specifying a custom tag, these ad locations will be shown under the 'No Placement Tag' field on the Tapdaq dashboard.

4. Placement Tag Use Cases

You can select which placements show ads for your promotion when you set up your cross promotion campaign on the Tapdaq dashboard. Below are a couple of examples of how you could use Placement Tags to have greater control over where ads are shown within your application:

a) If you want to show your promotion in only your Home Screen placement, then select only this placements from the dropdown (you will need to have these placements configured within your SDK integration)

b) If you want to show your promotion in only your placements which have no custom tag assigned (for example, all users using older versions of your app where Placement Tags aren't supported), then select the 'Default Tag' from the dropdown.
